In the hundreds of Christian books I have read, this book is one of the most helpful guides to living the abundant life, particularly when experiencing the daily small "hard times" and the overwhelming ones too.

The book was an eye opening experience. It was an easy read, practical, inspiring, funny, engaging, and it was based on scripture. The format was great especially with the addition of intro video each week. It was perfect for a small group setting. The experience opened my eyes to how I can overcome adversity and attacks of the enemy with the right approach – God’s way, not my way. I also learned that life actually is more than I can handle if I don’t let God in. We all go through trials in life, it’s almost a guarantee, but how we respond is what separates us from the world. More people should read this book and use it in a small group setting.

…as far as your book is concerned, I will keep it close by (right next to my bible) because I think it to was a gift from God. As I started reading it, I quickly became "hooked" on how you laid it out and I started taking notes on the very pages I was reading. I know your intent was to approach the content in our lives through our small group, but in all honesty, I couldn't put it down. I diligently read it, in its entirety in a very short time. Funny to say, but I was finished with it (the first reading) before our groups first meeting. I could go on and on about the content of "More Than You Can Handle", but I chose not to. My challenge is for those thinking about it, just do it. Your life will be forever changed. I am grateful to you, Doug, for giving me the opportunity to learn more from your words than any I have read in a long time. I thank you and love you, my brother in Christ.

This book will open your eyes to a whole new depth of waters. I love how this book has changed my perspective on my daily walk and when the waters get turbulent. I can only describe it as a light bulb coming on in the heavenly realm. This book was used for a small group curriculum - the videos that go along with it bring a deeper understanding. I cannot say enough good about this book. Buy it. Read it. Pass it on. Lead a small group and bring about some change that ripples for generations. This book is an absolute must read! It was such an encouragement and definitely a book I will pick up again and read over and over! This book has shown me new insights to my faith and has pushed me to dig deeper in my relationships and really lean into Gods understanding!

You see Freedom was like pulling the layers of my past hurts and laying them at the foot of the cross and allowing God to fully heal me -Hurts received and hurts I have caused. This book has really opened my eyes to think and pray about Bible passages I am reading. Sometimes I read scripture and believe it is telling me one thing, when the true meaning can actually be something else. Makes me stop, examine what is written and how it impacts my life. Is making my walk with God so much better.

I have read through this book several times and each time I have a different encounter with God. The last time, I had the incredible opportunity to apply the principles found in Chapter 2, Ask More Questions. In this chapter Doug explains how to Pause...Examine Your Motives...Ask.
I employed this principle while in the hospital with my Mom. I had no experience in this type of setting and didn’t know what to do next. On the second day I noticed God was sending me different people each day, so I decided to try Pause, Examine, Ask. It was incredible what God revealed through people each day during the next 10 days of that stay as I asked for His guidance.
I am using that principle again today, as I am in a situation I don’t know what to do next. I know God will continue to show me one step at a time as He brings new people and truths in my path to teach me and show me next steps.
I encourage anyone to pick up this book and step through he principles Doug outlines. I believe you will find new truths for your life journey.

I was introduced to "More Than You Can Handle" shortly after we lost our daughter, Elle, to brain cancer. The timing was truly providential. Now that a few years have passed and I've been able to apply this knowledge to other trials, I do believe this book can help anyone, regardless of the season of life they in. As the title states "life is full of the overwhelmingly unexpected". The biblical wisdom shared in these chapters will ring true, and give so much comfort to anyone that has experienced, or currently experiencing the many difficulties we face in a fallen world.
